The MetaGame

In our other TCGs we refer to the top decks as 'meta' or the leading decks. These are the decks everyone wants to build and test out. So in Cardfight!! Vanguard what is our metagame? What are the top tier decks?

Well I do know this much - Nova Grapplers won the Australian Nationals and it was Royal Paladin vs. Grappler in the finals.

http://bushiroad.fm/post/en/630/Australian+Grand+Prix+and+Vanguard+Nationals.html

What are our Tier 1 and Tier 2 decks?

Here is my opinion:

Tier 1
Nova Grappler
Royal Paladin
Oracle Think Tank

Tier 2
Kagero
Shadow Paladin
Dimensional Police

My competitive Vanguard experience is severly limited due to being on the east coast of the US and we are just beginning to form local leagues here. Some of you play this game at a local, regional and even national level of competition. We would like to hear from you!

Still quite too early to determine the meta-game at this stage. Results of just one torunament (notably the Australian one) isn't really substantial to say they're the meta to play as of yet. We also got to factor in the sets upcoming and the consistancy of certain builds as well.

Currently how I see it, the decks I rate from current casual and tournament play we hold in Melbourne are as follows.

Kagero and Nova Grapplers battling for top dog. Although Royal ain't far behind either.
Oracles and Shadow Paladins having their own mini battle below straight after.

This is only a speculation based on the amount of decks I've seen played and the winners of the Tournaments around our region play with. Tell you the truth, it's consistancy and the play style of players that determine whether one can win or lose 85% of the time. Rest is up to the luck of triggers.

So the current leaders in the meta game are the top 5 clans from the show or so it seems. How are the other smaller clans doing on the large scale? I'm seriously looking to play either grand blue or dark irregualrs and I'm curious where they stand at the moment.

Dark Irregulars can hold its own at times in terms of consistancy but there's few players with a solid build to pull it all the way to the finish. They have enough support to build a good deck but yeh, it's not widely known.

Same can be said for Granblues. But they suffer from the fact they have a basic pool of support that anyone can get and the PR support even rarer to find locally from outside of Japan unless you know of a lot of players playing held tournys.

Have to wait and see, I suppose. But this is just my 2 cents on the issue.

Well thats actually kind of depressing. Either way I'll still play them if there's enough support to be hope then there's still hope things can you change as the game ages. With any luck team handsome will show back up in some spotlight and they will get boosted *crosses fingers*

So it's a fairly even playing field? A skilled cardfighter could take any deck to any level on any given day? Or is there a theme that's the odds on favorite? It's well known that the 2 oldest themes are Kagero and RP so they are very developed. But it seems Nova has gone to the head of the class due to their trigger options?

A skilled fighter can make any clan beat any clan. Bushiroad has done an excellent job making the game balanced, but obviously the clans with more cards have better potential for stronger decks.

Keep in mind the meta is very different in other places. Here in Australia, there are a lot of 11k vanguards, and it's a lot of attacking rearguards in play styles. I've looked at japan's play list and there are few 11k vanguards, and Alfred seems to dominate the paladin play, where it's a very rarely seen unit in our meta.

I can at least speak for Australia I guess as I play a lot competitively (maybe too much)

    Tier 1
    Nova Grapplers
    Kagero
    Royal Paladins

    Tier 2
    Oracle Think Tank
    Shadow Paladins
    Tachikaze

    Tier 3
    Granblue
    Spike Brothers
    Palemoon

    Tier 4
    Dimensional Police
    Megacolony
    Dark Irregulars

As for the Meta, this is how I see things.

    Tier 1
Poyal Paladin [The ability the search out the unit they need for the right situation is whats keeping in the top spots of tournaments] Notable deck: RP King of Frey Beatdown
Oracle Think Tank [Highest draw power, means highest defence] Notable Deck: OTT Twin Goddess Control
Kagero [Rearguard destruction will always minimaize the opornents attack and defence power] Notable Deck: Gokugero Reagguard Blaster

    Tier 1.5
Nova Grappler [Still the best Beatdown deck in the field but pocesses on major weakness, what the player draws during the trigger check, Sterns need the Crits to work wonders and Asura needs the grade 3. Badluck will always make NG deck look like a vanlla deck waiting for something happen, but when something does happen god knows how much damage you can do] Notable deck: Asura Win
Shadow Paladin [Draw power which rivels OTT combined with powerful attack that can end the game in one attack is what makes them, but also comes with a price, and said price can basiclly cost them the game. Also SP's natural enemy are perfect guards, 1-2 perfect guards can basiclly stop SP from advancing.] Notable Deck: Cursed Dragon Over Kill

    Tier 2
    Spike Brothers
    Dimension Police

    Tier 3
    The Rest
